Diversity and Inclusion Statement of Principles

The Australian and New Zealand Society for Sarcopenia and Frailty Research (ANZSSFR) respects and welcomes the diversity of our members, collaborators and supporters, in terms of their values, beliefs, backgrounds, experiences and choices. The ANZSSFR embraces diversity, and, in recognising that systemic racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, and heteronormative bias still exist, publicly states that, as a collective society, we will:

·         treat each other with mutual respect and embrace all diversity,

  • not tolerate racism, discrimination, and/or harassment in any form,

  • not tolerate practices and/or expressed viewpoints that exclude, isolate or demean another person or group,

  • provide a culturally safe, welcoming, inclusive, and productive environment that fosters open dialogue and the exchange of scientific ideas, and act toward eliminating systemic and institutionalized inequities by encouraging diversity in our Council and Committee, and promoting equal opportunities for all members.

All ANZSSFR members are expected to align with this Statement of Principles, and as a collective society we expect our principles to be accepted by all who attend and engage with our events and activities, including attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, contractors, volunteers and guests.

The ANZSSFR believes that in accepting and respecting diversity, we will be a better, more inclusive, and contemporary society.
